Eastwood MSP, Jackson Carlaw has praised the work of Armed Forces charities after attending a major annual conference.
Mr Carlaw was present at the Armed Forces Covenant conference 2025 and the event was held at Edmiston House in Glasgow.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge to recognise that those who have served in the UK military and their families should be treated with fairness and respect.
There were a range of contributions at the conference including from the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the Rangers Charity Foundation on it’s work with veterans and their families and The Royal British Legion.
Many Armed Forces charities were also in attendance at the event such as Combat Stress, Vector24 and The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust.
Combat Stress makes available clinical treatment and support for veterans who are living with complex mental health issues as a result of what they experienced when serving with the military.
Vector24 provides serving personnel and veterans with free transport to attend medical appointments, mental health services, community events and for other purposes that are essential to rebuilding their lives.
The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust provides financial assistance and support to Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel alongside their families in times of need.
Scottish Conservative MSP for Eastwood, Jackson Carlaw said:
“People who serve in our Armed Forces selflessly risk their lives to keep all of us at home safe and free from harm.
“Serving personnel and veterans deserve no less than the highest levels of respect and admiration and I fully support the Armed Forces Covenant.
“Many fantastic Armed Forces charities were present at the conference in Glasgow and the organisations offer first-class support that is available to serving personnel, veterans and family members who live in Eastwood and across Scotland.
“Combat Stress carries out vital work in helping veterans with mental health issues, Vector24 ensures that veterans have transport to essential support services and The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust provides crucial assistance for Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel.
“It was truly an honour and privilege to attend this year’s Armed Forces Covenant conference.”
